This 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Fly-In Safari, you will take a 1-hour flight from Entebbe to southwestern Uganda to visit Bwindi National Park, the home of the endangered Mountain Gorillas. You will use scheduled flights that land at either Kihihi Airstrips. The safari is ideal for those who have less time but want to track the gorillas in Uganda, since you avoid the 8 to 9hrs drive from Entebbe to Bwindi. Bwindi impenetrable national park is one of those parks with a remarkable diversity, carpeting the margin of the Albertine rift valley for thousands of years. The word “Bwindi” means “darkness” because of the intact forested perfections that allow very little light to pass through them and are at the same time blanketed by mist. The park hosts several other species with their counts estimated at 310 butterflies, 200 trees, 51 reptiles, 88 moths, 120 mammals and 350 bird species. Some of such species include; forest elephants, antelopes among others. This itinerary can also be extended to 4 days / 3 nights with a second opportunity to trek the Mountain Gorillas.

Detailed Day by Day Itinerary-3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking

Day 1:  Scheduled Flight To Kihihi And Into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park By Road Transfer – Optional Afternoon Activities – Dinner And Overnight @ Buhome Lodge

Our guide will pick you and transfer you to Entebbe Airport for your internal flight to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park landing at Kihihi  or Kisoro Airstrip Upon landing, our guide/vehicle will transfer you by road to your respective overnight Lodge. You may choose to fly in the morning or in the afternoon. Morning flights depart Entebbe for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park at 7:45am while afternoon flights depart Entebbe at 12:30pm. For the southern part of Bwindi NP, there is only one morning flight that departs Entebbe to Kisoro Airstrip daily at 7:45am. This is because of the strong winds in this region. Internal flights to Bwindi NP take up to one and half hours depending on the routing of the day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking In The Morning – Batwa Community Encounter – Optional Afternoon Activities – Dinner And Overnight @ Buhoma Lodge

After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the park headquarters for briefing from the Uganda wildlife Authority ranger guides who will allocate you a gorilla family group you will trek that day. Once you have your group confirmed 8 people, the 2 ranger guides will lead you into the thick impenetrable forest to start your search for the endangered rare species of Mountain Gorillas. The gorilla search always continues from the place where they were last seen the previous day. Upon reaching the area where these famous species are, you will only be allowed to interact with them for only one hour and you should always keep maximum silence while with these Gorillas. You are allowed to take photographs and so on. In the evening, you may go for community walks in the nearby Batwa community, where you will be entertained and given tales of their unique culture.

Gorilla tracking can sometimes be strenuous depending on the trek that day which is normally determined by weather and the movement of the gorillas in the forest but given the fact it is very well organized activity you have 99% chances of seeing the gorillas on your trek. The trek is guided by advanced trackers who monitor the Gorilla movements all day in the forest with this they will know where they nested for the last night and that’s where you start from looking for them. The 2 ranger guides will lead you all through the trek clearing trails, creating new trails and sharing with you information about the mountain gorillas and Bwindi forest. After the trek you will retrieve back to the starting point to pick your certificates as a sign of successful tracking of mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Day 3: Return Scheduled flight To Entebbe (Or Extension For Additional Night In Bwindi For 2nd Gorilla Trekking)

After early morning breakfast, you will drive back to the airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe Airport; from here you will be transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight or to the airport for your departure. What happens if the jeep breaks down?

Our Safari vehicles are serviced and maintained to a very high standard before, during and after every safari. The age of the vehicles in our fleet varies but most were built between 2008 and 2013. If your vehicle does break down and it cannot be fixed on the road, we will request a rescue jeep which will come for you so that you can continue your safari with minimum impact. Whilst every effort is made to prevent this from happening, the driving is rough and the vehicles do take quite a pounding!

We believe in value for money. Every guest would like to have the most reliable and comfortable vehicles on safari. In response to the clients’ needs, we have a very strict vehicle replacement policy that ensures a young fleet at all times. We have a total fleet of 225 well-maintained motor vehicles, predominantly 4-wheel drives. This does away with the problem of sub-contracting vehicles and driver-guides, which may compromise the quality of services. Our safari vehicles are specifically converted for maximum space and comfort. All of them have hatched roof and sliding windows to facilitate good viewing and convenient photography during game drives and sight seeing.
