Treetops Lodge is a 4.4-star luxury lodge in the center of a dense forest in Aberdare National Park. The lodge is about 80 years old and built in 1932, 163 km from Nairobi. And 7 km from Mweiga airstrip.
Its strategic location in the middle of the forest and the magnificent trees that grow through the building provide a lifetime memory for nature lovers. It Lies in the ancient elephant migratory route between the Aberdare ranges and Mount Kenya National Park. the lodge became famous following the visit of Princess Elizabeth. And then became a queen while still there due to the death of King George Vi in 1952.
Rooms.
The lodge has 36 rooms, 3 spacious suites, and 33 twin rooms all well furnished with a comfy king-sized bed, bathtub, wardrobe, extended sitting area, and large windows overlooking the natural watering hole and salt lick. Which attract mammals hence providing a perfect wildlife view for the guests as the mammals come to take water and lick salt.
Infants below 3 years old are not charged any fee and those above 3-12 years old sharing with adults pay a 50% adult rate and 80% when not sharing. Children above 13 years pay the same amount as adults.
Dining.
A restaurant that serves international and African-inspired meals that meet guests’ choices. The camp offers bush breakfast enjoying the sunrises and bush dinners overlooking the stars in the sky. Other meals include picnic lunch, buffet, breakfast, and dinner
A well-stocked bar with a shared lounge offering many drinks, local, cocktails, wines, spirits, and international beers. You relax and sip the cocktail or mocktail while overlooking the stunning view of the watering hole, mountain ranges, and surrounding area.
Game drives at Tree Tops take you to Solio game drive for 4 hours, Aberdare National Park Salient for 2 hours and Aberdare National Park Moorlands full day all a minimum of 4 people, and payments are per person based on your destination choice. While on the game drive, you will encounter elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, warthogs, and many others.
The park harbors 290 bird species and some are indwellers of the forest where the tree tops lodge is located making it a perfect birding spot. Likely spotted bird species include crowned eagle, golden-winged sunbird, and African green pigeon.
Trout fishing is carried out at Aberdare River, this involves catch and release. You can carry your fishing equipment or hire from the lodge.
Resident hunters will take you around the lodge to explore the magnificent flora and fauna on foot.
This is one of the most rewarding activities that enables you to explore the park reaching all corners the car can’t reach. Enjoy the beautiful savannah grassland and the mammals roaring within the plains.
Sundowners are arranged with an evening game drive with a minimum of four people. During the sundowner, you will get to see different mammals. And see the beautiful views of the sky as the sun sets while enjoying your favorite wine or any beverage.
