The 11 days Uganda Safari Classic Tour takes you to the most adventurous national parks and cultural attractions in the Pearl of Africa. The exciting safari of pure wildlife viewing covers Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Lake Mburo National Park. You will get an opportunity to encounter the big 5 mammals (lions, leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes and Rhinos). However, this safari also offers cultural experiences such as the Batwa Trail experience where visitors get to learn about the ancient ways of the Batwa people.

The ultimate safari starts with the world’s most powerful waterfalls known as Murchison Falls National Park. It is located in the North Westerner part of Uganda, it covers areas such as Masindi, Buliisa, Amuru, Pakwach, Kiryandongo, Nwoya etc. It is the largest National Park with an area of 3840sq.kms. The park harbors about 76 mammal species including 4 members of the big 5 family (lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes) and also visitors can encounter Rhinos at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Other mammals include Nile crocodiles, Hippos, bush bucks  Giraffes, Uganda kobs, Bushbucks, Elephants, Hartebeests, Oribis, waterbucks, warthogs, hyenas and various bird species like black bee eater, rare shoebill stork, weavers, grey crowned cranes, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Black-headed lapwing, Senegal thick-knee among others.

From Murchison Falls National Park, you will visit Kibale Forest National Park a primate’s capital which is found in Kabarole district. Kibale Forest national park provides home to over 13 primate species such as chimpanzees our closest relatives with 98.8% DNA of human, olive baboons, Red tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkey, Ugandan red colobus, Grey checked mangabey, De Brazza’s monkey, Bush babies etc. Three (3) of these primates are nocturnal meaning are mostly active at during hours. However, the park also provides a habitat for over 375 species of birds like       African pied wagtail, Great blue turaco, Pin-tailed whydah, Slender-billed weaver, Tropical boubou, and black bee eater. You will spend a day trekking through the forest to see the primates up close, learning about their behavior and watching them interact with each other.

After Kibale forest National Park, Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park the most visited destination. Queen Elizabeth National Park is the second largest and the most beautiful Park in Uganda. It covers approximately 1,978sq.kms. It’s located in South Western Uganda. When it comes to scenic beauty and other naturally specular wonders, it’s hard to beat Queen Elizabeth National Park with its sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes and its ecosystem. It is also home to 95 mammal species including the 4 members of the big 5 such as Lions, Leopards, Elephants and Buffaloes, however other species include warthogs, Hippos, hyenas, Ugandan kobs, oribis, topis, bush bucks, waterbucks, giant forest hogs, chimpanzees, Nile crocodiles among others and also various Bird species like grey crowned cranes, Marital eagle, shoebill, African green pigeon, handsome francolin, Nubian wood pecker, swamp flycatcher, grey crowned heron, black bee eater, African skimmer Here you will go for a game drive and Boat cruise on Kazinga Chanel to see wildlife and birdlife. The trip highlight is Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is famous for being a home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, one of Uganda’s ancient well as the most biologically diverse rainforests that is over 25,000 years with almost 400 species of plants that are forming the huge impenetrable forest that is ever green. It is a home to approximately 400 mountain gorillas found in Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo. The park has about 120 mammal species such as      black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, Red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, bush pigs, forest elephants, buffaloes, duikers and also  350  bird species including 23 Albertine Rift endemics the African green broadbill, Grauer’s swamp warbler, Turner’s Eremomela, Chapin’s flycatcher, handsome francolin, Rwenzori turaco, purple sunbird, Red throated bee eater, black bee eater, and Shelley’s crimson-wing   and also butterfly species such as the African giant swallowtail and Cream-banded swallowtail and is the ancient home of the Batwa people.

Lake Mburo National Park is one of the smallest parks in Uganda but this does not mean it has less to offer; It is a home to a variety of wildlife including Zebras, Impalas, buffaloes, bush pig, topi, crocodiles, elands, buffalos, oribi, waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck., and many more. Bird species like African Fin foot, pied kingfisher, bare faced go away, Red faced barbet, Greater painted snipe, Black bellied Bustard, Blue breasted kingfisher, African wattled lawing, striped kingfisher etc.  Here you will relax and enjoy the scenery. The Park’s topography and vegetation are made of falling and raising hillsides, rocky outcrops, open and wooden grassland, rich acacia tree valleys, forests, bushes and thickets together with permanent and seasonal swamps along the shores of the Lakes.

 

Day 1: Arrival and Pick up from Entebbe International Airport – Transfer to your Hotel 

Day 1 of the 11 days Uganda Safari Classic Tour will start with a pick from Entebbe International Airport. You will be picked up from Entebbe International Airport or your hotel in Kampala by our experienced driver guide from Paradise Adventure Vacations who will brief you about the 11 days Uganda Safari Classic Tour. The drive is about 45 minutes from the Airport. Upon arrival at your hotel, you will check in and have a rest from your long Journey. If time allows us either we can visit Entebbe botanical gardens or Kampala city tour where you will explore the historical places of Uganda such as Kabaka’s palace, Uganda National Museum, Namugongo martyr’s shrines, Kasubi tombs (One of the UNESCO’S recognized site) depending on your arrival time.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with a Stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino Tracking

Day 2 of the 11 days Uganda Safari Classic Tour , Wake up for an early morning breakfast and begin your panoramic road drive northwest of Uganda through the famous Luwero Triangle with an en-route stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you can find these peaceful members of the big five family in the wilderness. On your arrival at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, go for white rhino trekking adventure which will provide you with opportunities to explore them close to their feet. During your trekking, you have to keep your camera on standby such that you do not miss out any moment. After trekking, have a short break and start your drive to Murchison falls national park,  the highlights of this park include; the roaring rapids of the Murchison, the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest national park where you will have the chance of viewing lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants. Murchison falls national park is one of the Uganda’s ancient protected areas and recognized for getting immense number of international visitors. With an en-route stop for lunch from Masindi Town.  Continue to the park for Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park – Early Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise – Hike To The Top Of The Falls – Optional Night Game Drive

On day 3 of  your 11 days Uganda Safari Classic Tour, you will delight on your morning breakfast as you prepare for yet another exciting encounter. You will thereafter proceed for a morning game drive through different trails of the park like Albert trail, buligi trail and the Victoria trail. Here, you will meet eye to eye with different mammal species like Bufaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, bush barks, giraffes among others, return to your lodge for relaxation and lunch. Later in the afternoon, embark on an afternoon boat cruise upstream to the bottom of the falls, while on the cruise, you will see the Nile crocodiles resting on the shores, herds of hippos while in water, bird species like the black bee eater, grey crowned crane, marabou stork and many others. After the cruise, You will then hike to the Top of the falls where you witness the strength of the magnificent Murchison falls as it roars and pours itself out through a narrow 8m gorge. While here, you will enjoy the soft splashes as it feels like little drizzles falling on your face from heaven. You will then return back to your lodge for relaxation as you await your dinner and an overnight.

OR You can Opt for a Night Game Drive which comes at an Extra Cost of $100 per person. This drive is done with an armed ranger guide and also spotlight torches which will enable you spot the predators as they hunt like hyenas, leopards, lions, bush babies, hippos among others.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park – Relaxation at your Lodge

Day 4 of the 11 days Uganda Safari Classic, you will have  breakfast and then meet your driver at the reception to start your journey to meet Kibale Forest national park a primates’ capital. The journey is a long one, approximately 7-8 hours. However, you will have a stopover to ease yourself and stretch your legs along the way. You may want to pack some snacks and drinks for the journey. But the scenic drive is full of breathtaking views of the Ugandan countryside. Kibale Forest national park provides home to over 13 primate species such as chimpanzees our closest relatives with 98.8% DNA of human, olive baboons, Red tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkey, Ugandan red colobus, Grey checked mangabey, De Brazza’s monkey, Bush babies etc. You will arrive at Kibale National Park in the evening, where you will check-in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Kibale Forest National Park – Chimpanzee Tracking and visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary 

Day 5 of the 11 days Uganda Safari Classic, Rise up early in the morning to have breakfast and transfer to the park information center for a briefing about the rules and regulations when you are with the chimpanzees, you will be assigned a ranger guide who will take you through the forest as you search for these primates. During the course of your chimpanzee trekking, expect to see a lot of primate species like chimpanzees, black and white Colobus monkeys and many bird species as well as a variety of colorful butterflies. On finding the Chimpanzees, you will spend a full hour in their presence while watching how they go about their day to day life, later you will return back to the Lodge for a delicious lunch.

After lunch, you will go on a guided walk to see the beautiful flora and fauna of Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Among the Bird species you will see include African pied wagtail, Great blue turaco, Pin-tailed whydah, Slender-billed weaver, Tropical boubou, and black bee eater. You will later return back to your lodge for a freshly prepared dinner as well as an overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Evening Game Drive

Day 6 of the 11 days Uganda Safari Classic, you will have breakfast and check out of the accommodation. Then, meet your driver at the reception to start your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is located in western Uganda. The drive will take about 2-3 hours with opportunities to enjoy the scenic views and definitely you will have stopovers along the way. Queen Elizabeth national park is one of the most popular national parks in Uganda because of its diverse ecosystems such as sparkling lakes, humid forest, sprawling savanna and fertile wetlands which attracts many wildlife species such as birds and mammals. It is one of the most popular and diverse national parks in Uganda, and the game drive is a great way to experience the park’s wildlife and natural beauty, it is also well known for tree climbing lions in Ishasha sector and the Kazinga Channel. On arrival, you will have lunch and have relaxation.

Later in the evening, you will go out for an evening game drive which will give you sights of different wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, hyenas and many species of antelopes. The game drive will last for about 3 hours, take many pictures as you can and also don’t hesitate to ask as many questions as possible. After the Game drive return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Early Morning Game drive OR Optional Experiential lion and leopard Tracking – Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Day 7 of your  Safari will begin with an early morning breakfast and thereafter you will head out to the jungle to search for the various mammal species that inhabit Queen Elizabeth National Park like Antelopes, Hippos, bush pigs, sitatungas, topis, bushbucks, cape buffaloes, elephants among others.

OR You can Opt for an Experiential Lion and Leopard Tracking Experience in the Northern sector of the park “Kasenyi plains” which goes for an Extra $250 per person, while here, you will have an opportunity to drive off track while tracing a pride of lions and the leopards of the park. This Experience takes you beyond the usual game drive  since you get to learn about their population, behavior, life style and also any other information concerning them. Experiential Lion and Leopard Tracking is done with Researchers who drive around the Park with Radiation trackers which help them to find lions that have radio collars around their Neck, Trackers here can drive off truck in order to find the predators whenever the signals would be directing.

After a great time in the jungle, you will return back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch, later in the afternoon proceed for another ultimate experience on the Kazinga channel while cruising.  While on the cruise, you will view the herds of hippos taking in water, elephants drinking water on the banks of the Kazinga channel, Nile crocodiles resting in the shade at the shores and also various bird species like the martial eagle, grey crowned crane, African green pigeon, and handsome francolin among other bird species. We shall return back to the lodge for your dinner as well as an overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via Ishasha sector

You will rise up early on Day 8 of the 11 Uganda Safari Classic Tour and have breakfast at your accommodation, you will then start a journey to Bwindi impenetrable Forest National park which is located in South westerner Uganda. The drive will take about 4-6 hours, depending on the route taken and stopovers made.  The park is known for having almost half of the World’s population of Mountain Gorillas hence giving you a thrilling experience. The park has a population of about 459 Mountain Gorillas with 21 Habituated families living in different sectors of the park like Nkuringo, Ruhija, Rushaga and Buhoma, you will then check into your accommodation for dinner and over stay.

Immediately you reach Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, you will check in your accommodation and you can rest because it will help you prepare for the gorilla trekking the next day. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 9: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park – Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Trail Experience

Rise up early to have a hot breakfast. Afterwards, meet your driver guide for a transfer to the park information center for briefing regarding the dos and don’ts to follow during gorilla trekking. Thereafter, start your guided forest walk to track mountain gorillas which takes about 3 to 6 hours depending on the movements and location of the Gorilla family. During your walk, you may encounter other wildlife species besides Gorillas such as chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, bush pigs, forest elephants, bird species like African green pigeon, African harrier hawk, Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Crowned hornbill, Giant kingfisher and also butterflies like cream-banded swallowtail, African giant swallowtail and many others. Your guide will be able to give you information about everything that you will encounter, Once you meet the Mountain Gorillas, you will have a maximum of 1 hour of watching them especially the playful juveniles, the silverbacks and other family members as they carry out their daily activities. Keep your camera well charged and on standby so that you do not miss out on any moment uncaptured during your gorilla trekking experience. Later, return to the park information center to pick your tracking certificate and then to your lodge for lunch and refreshments.

Later in the Afternoon, you will go for the Batwa community experience, you will visit the Batwa pygmy people proudly known as “the forest keepers” who used to leave in Mgahinga and Bwindi forest but when all of these forests were gazetted as national parks, they were evicted out of the forest and given land outside the forest such that they do not conflict with wildlife conservation mostly for mountain gorillas. Here you will learn about their ancient ways of life and the struggles to adapt to modern life outside the forest, how they used to feed and many more. These people were the original inhabitants of Bwindi, Mgahinga, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga in Congo.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park – Night Game Drive

On the 10th day of your 11 Days Uganda Safari Classic Tour, you will have breakfast and then check out of your accommodation. You will leave Bwindi National Park and travel to Lake Mburo National Park which is located in the western part of Uganda. The drive will take approximately 4-5 hours. It is one of Uganda’s smallest but most beautiful national parks. Lake Mburo is famous for having the largest population of Zebras and Impalas in Uganda, it is made of seasonal swamps, woody Savannah grassland that is dominated by acacia and Lakes.  Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge, have lunch and relaxation as you prepare for the night Game drive. Night Game drives in Lake Mburo National Park in Uganda are the most ideal for you. Notably known as the only park where you can spot an exceptional number of impalas than in any of the other Savannah parks, these game drives will also give you a wonderful experience for extraordinary sightseeing, viewing of diverse wildlife species. Through a network of game tracks, tourists are able to see animals ranging from Zebras, Impalas, giraffes, warthogs, buffaloes, hyenas. Waterbucks, elands, oribi, hippos, crocodiles, reedbucks and many others. Then after, you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Morning Nature walk or Horse ride – Transfer Back to Entebbe International Airport with a stopover at the Equator

As we conclude your 11 Days Uganda Safari Tour, you will have breakfast and then head out for either a morning nature walk or horse ride. This will take about 2 hours, you will go off the beaten tracks to see a variety of mammals at a close range. You will later head back to have your lunch and check out to start your return journey to Kampala arriving in the late afternoon.
