Murchison falls National Park is the largest and oldest national park in Uganda covering an area of 3,840 square kilometers. It is located in the northern part of the country and is home to a diverse array of wildlife and vegetation. The park is named after the Murchison Falls, which is the main attraction in the park. The Nile River flows through the park and provides a habitat for many of the park’s species.

Murchison Falls National Park is known for its large herds of elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, and other big game. It is also a great destination for bird watching, with over 450 species of birds recorded in the park. Visitors can go on game drives, boat safaris, and nature walks to see the different species and habitats within the park.

The 2-day tour to Murchison Falls National Park and Rhino Tracking. Will offer you with the opportunity to explore one of Uganda’s largest and most popular national parks. The tour typically will include a visit to the magnificent Murchison Falls. Which is the point where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow gorge and plunges into a pool of boiling rapids below. Visitors can take a boat ride to the bottom of the falls and hike to the top for a breathtaking view.

In addition to Murchison Falls, the tour will also include a rhino tracking experience.

The tour is a great opportunity for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts. And anyone interested in exploring the beauty and diversity of Uganda’s wilderness.

Aside from its natural beauty, Murchison Falls National Park also has a rich cultural history. With several communities living within the park boundaries. These communities have a unique relationship with the park and the wildlife, and visitors can learn about their way of life and culture on a cultural tour.

 

Detailed itinerary:

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Murchison falls national park

Early morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Kampala by our driver guide and transferred to Murchison Falls National Park. With a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary along the way. The Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a conservation effort to reintroduce rhinos back into the wild in Uganda. You can take a guided walk to see the rhinos and learn about their conservation and protection.

After tracking, you will have lunch and after lunch embark on the journey to Murchison falls national park. During the drive, you will get to see some of the rural areas and villages of Uganda. Along the way, you may spot some of the wildlife that roams freely along the road, such as antelopes, baboons, and warthogs.

At the park

Upon arrival at the park, you will take a game drive to see the big game and explore the park’s diverse habitats.  From savannah grasslands to riparian forests. You may spot elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, and many more.

After lunch, you will continue to the top of Murchison Falls. Where the Nile River narrows and crashes through a narrow gorge to create a breathtaking waterfall. You will take a short hike to the top of the falls to see the stunning view and take some photos.

Later, In the evening, you will return to your lodge or camping site for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: On the second day of your tour,

After your breakfast, you will go on a boat safari along the Nile River. You will get to see various animals as they come to the river to drink, such as crocodiles, hippos, and water birds. You will also visit the delta, where the Nile River splits into several channels and forms a lush forest. This area is a haven for bird watchers, as over 450 species of birds can be found here.

Meanwhile after the boat safari, you will head back to your lodge for lunch and then start the drive back to Kampala, with a stop along the way for a farewell snack and drink. The tour will end with a drop off at your hotel or residence in Kampala. Thus the end of tour.
