The 6 Days Fly-in Great Wildebeest Migration Holiday is a carefully designed Package that offers lasting memories and experiences as well as rare Natural beauty in Maasai Mara National Reserve  Maasai Mara National Reserve is located in the South Western region of Kenya along the Great Rift Valley area in Norok County Kenya adjacent to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.

About Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara National Reserve was established in 1961 as a wildlife sanctuary covering an area of 520 sqkm of the current Mara Triangle.  Later it was converted into a Game Reserve and by 1984 the park had a total area of 1510sqkm.

The park is dotted with acacia trees, shrubs and bushes and has 2 draining rivers which are Maasai Mara River and Talek River. A unique wildlife conservation haven famous for its Natural diversity of wildlife like the Big 5 mammals which are Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes and Rhinos in large numbers as well as other mammals like Cheetahs, zebras, wildebeests, crocodiles, hippos, giraffes, duikers, impala hartebeests, roan antelopes, topi, wildebeest and Thomson’s gazelles.

The park also boosts of over 500 bird species like Bateleur, Secretary bird, Schawlow’s turaco, Abdim’s stork, Hammerkops, Temminck’s courser, Southern ground hornbill, Usambiro barbet, Saddle-billed stork, Giant kingfisher, Woolly-necked stork, Black-headed heron, Giant kingfisher, African jacana, Crowned lapwing, Malachite kingfisher, Grey-headed kingfisher among others. Maasai Mara National Reserve is also famous for its annual Wildebeest Beast Migration where Millions of these creatures migrate from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park which occurs between July and October making it one of the 7 Wonders of the World.

 

Day 1: Pick up from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your Hotel – Fly to Maasai Mara National Reserve – Evening Game Drive

The 6 Days Fly-in Great Wildebeest Migration Holiday will start with a pick up from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to Wilson Airstrip for a domestic flight to the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. This flight will take about an hour and upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred with an enroute game drive to your lodge for a delicious hot lunch. then later you will proceed for an evening game drive passing through the dry savannah plains as you look out for species like Elephants, Buffaloes, Rhinos, Lions, impala, hartebeests, roan antelopes, topi, wildebeest among others. You will then return back to your lodge for your dinner as well as an overnight.

Day 2: Maasai Mara National Reserve – Full day Wildebeest Migration Experience 

After your delicious breakfast, you will embark on an encounter with Maasai Mara’s Wildebeests at Mara River. While here, you will enjoy watching millions of Wildebeests and Zebras migrating from Serengeti National Park to Maasai Mara while crossing the Mara River amidst the big Nile Crocodiles waiting to grab food, here you will witness survival for the fittest as lions are on the other hand waiting at the river banks for the same.

This experience is an unforgettable one since you will watch these creatures searching for greener pastures. You will enjoy a packed lunch in the reserve while maximizing your time with the migrating Herds. You will continue with your exploration of Maasai Mara reserve and search for more wildlife like giraffes, duikers, impala, hartebeests, roan antelopes, Topis, Thomson’s gazelles, rhinos, buffaloes, elephants among others. Later in the evening, you will enjoy the sunset as you drive back to your accommodation for your dinner and overnight while searching for leopards and cheetahs.

After your delicious breakfast, you will embark on a full day game drive with your packed lunch  which will give you an encounter with mammal species like zebras, wildebeests, hippos, giraffes, duikers, impala hartebeests, roan antelopes, topi, wildebeest and Thomson’s gazelles, rhinos, buffaloes, elephants and if lucky you will as well spot leopards, lions, hyenas. Later in the evening hours, return back to your lodge with an amazing game drive which will give you sights of more wildlife species to spice up your day. You will then have your dinner and an overnight.

Day 4: Maasai Mara National Park – Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Nature walk

Upon waking up on your day 4 of the 6 Days Fly-in Great Wildebeest Migration Holiday, you will embark on an early morning game drive which will give you a great opportunity to spot predators like lions, leopards, spotted hyenas and other mammals like hippos, buffaloes, wildebeests, elephants and many more. Return back to your accommodation for a hearty breakfast and spend your entire afternoon relaxing at your lodge. Later, you will go for a 2 hour Nature walk with a local Maasai guide who will share his experience and expertise with you. He will teach you about the hidden secrets of the African savannah and how the Maasai people track wildlife and birds and also how they find medicine in the bush. You will later return to your lodge for a relaxed dinner and an overnight.

Day 5: Maasai Mara National Reserve – Morning Game Drive – Maasai Cultural Encounter

Your day 5 of the 6 Days Fly-in Great Wildebeest Migration Holiday will start with an early morning lovely breakfast and thereafter proceed to the park to have an encounter with the Big 5 mammal species including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos. Various predators tend to be active during this time when the first rays of Sunshine come to rest on the Savannah, you will observe the thrill of a chase or at least the aftermath of a hunt.

You will as well encounter more mammals like hippos, giraffes, duikers, impala hartebeests, roan antelopes, topi, wildebeest and Thomson’s gazelles among others. You will return to your accommodation for a finger licking lunch and have relaxation. Later you will head out to the Maasai Community living near the park for a rich encounter which will give you the definition of a true African Culture. You will then return back for your dinner as well as an overnight.
