7-Day Kinshasa Goma Gorillas and Bonobos, Formerly known as Costermansville or Costermansstad, the city of Bukavu with its population of 245,000 inhabitants, is located on the southwestern edge of Lake Kivu. It is the capital of South Kivu Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The city is built on 5 peninsulas, backing luxuriously vegetated mountainous ground close to 2,000 meters above sea level. This gives visitors a panoramic, breathtaking view with its contrasting countryside.
Day 1: Arrival at Goma and Bukavu
Our protocol service handles all formalities and ensures you are on time to board a speedboat taking you across Lake Kivu to Bukavu. On arrival, you will check-in at Orchid Safari Lodge Hotel. The evening meal is served at the hotel where you’ll spend the night.

Day 2: Chimpanzees at the Lwiro Rehabilitation Center
Breakfast is served at Orchid Safari Lodge hotel in Bukavu. Thereafter, you will visit chimpanzees at the Lwiro Rehabilitation Center, located 40 km outside Bukavu. Bukavu is built on 5 peninsulas, backing luxuriously vegetated mountainous ground close to 2,000 meters above sea level, giving visitors a panoramic, breathtaking view with its contrasting countryside.

Day 3: Gorillas – Kahuzi Biega National Park
After breakfast, it is time to visit the gorillas in their natural environment. This is a truly enriching experience. Afterward, return to Orchid Safari Lodge hotel for dinner and your overnight stay, depends of you will finish your Gorilla Tracking your will visit Community center or Vilage walk.

Day 4: Bukavu – Goma – Kinshasa/7-Day Kinshasa Goma Gorillas and Bonobos
Enjoy an early breakfast before checking out of the hotel. Take a return trip across the lake back to Goma to board the Kinshasa-bound flight. On arrival, the airport shuttle service will transfer you to Fleuve Congo Hotel for check-in. You will arrive in time for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 5: Visiting the Bonobos in Kinshasa
You will take an early morning trip to the outskirts of Kinshasa in order to discover the bonobo. This ape shares 98.2% physiognomical resemblance with the human species and can be found only in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. After this highly educating discovery, visit the nearby Mavallée Lake where you can do some other activities in the lake’s calm waters. You then return to the hotel for some free time in the evening, before a full à-la-carte dinner in the resort’s restaurant.

After breakfast, you embark on the discovery of the incredible city known as Kinshasa. Thanks to this trip, the country’s history will no longer be a mystery to you. You will visit its landmark locations like the June 30th Square, the Central Railway Station, the National Museum, and several others. After the visit, you will return to the hotel for the evening meal and your overnight stay.

Day 7: End of your Adventure in Kinshasa

What happens if the jeep breaks down?
Our Safari vehicles are serviced and maintained to a very high standard before, during and after every safari. The age of the vehicles in our fleet varies but most were built between 2008 and 2013. If your vehicle does break down and it cannot be fixed on the road, we will request a rescue jeep which will come for you so that you can continue your safari with minimum impact. Whilst every effort is made to prevent this from happening, the driving is rough and the vehicles do take quite a pounding!
We believe in value for money. Every guest would like to have the most reliable and comfortable vehicles on safari. In response to the clients’ needs, we have a very strict vehicle replacement policy that ensures a young fleet at all times. We have a total fleet of 225 well-maintained motor vehicles, predominantly 4-wheel drives. This does away with the problem of sub-contracting vehicles and driver-guides, which may compromise the quality of services. Our safari vehicles are specifically converted for maximum space and comfort. All of them have hatched roof and sliding windows to facilitate good viewing and convenient photography during game drives and sight seeing.
