3 day Lake Mburo National Park safari is a great opportunity for a weekend getaway. Just a few hours drive from Uganda’s busy capital city. The tour combines game drives, a boat safari and a bush walk in the park’s lush bush savannah. With tranquility and relaxation at the lodge. The small park is famous for its many zebras, impalas and the eland, which happens to be the world’s largest antelope and can only be sighted in Mburo.

This 3 day Lake Mburo National Park safari leads you to the smallest savannah park in Uganda measuring 260 square kilometers for many great moments. Lake Mburo is the most easily accessible of parks being located along the Kampala Mbarara highway in the western districts of Mbarara and Kiruhura. The park is small but with varied habitats for its size. These include a network of 13 lakes, acacia woodland, dry hillsides, rocky outcrops, bushy thickets, open and wooded savannah, seasonal and permanent swamps. It small size should not make you think there is nothing to keep you occupied.
The best way to enjoy the park on this 3 day Lake Mburo National Park Safari is through a series of game drives, nature walks and a boat cruise. You can have various nature walks with a guide to seek out your interests i.e. birding, mammals, plants, and shrubs, insects and many more. Birding is another activity due to the park’s habitats hosting over 315 species of birds. The altitude of the park ranges from 1220 meters to 1828 meters above sea level.

Day 1: Uganda Equator
After breakfast, you will be picked up in Kampala/Entebbe by one of our experienced driver-guides and transferred to Lake Mburo NP. On the way, you shall make a stopover at the Uganda Equator for some photos or a coffee at client’s discreation.
Once we reached the Lake Mburo NP, you will check in the lodge in time for lunch. After lunch you ahve enough time to relax at the swimming pool (Luxury & Midrange), before you head out for your first game drive through the park. On the game drive you will encounter plenty of wildlife such as zebras, impalas, buffalos, giraffes, etc. If you are lucky, we might even spot a leopard resting on a tree. The park is know for its eland, Africa’s largest antelope species, which can not be found in any other park in Uganda. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive, Afternoon Boat Cruise on Lake Mburo & Night Game Drive
Your second day starts off with another game drive through the park. You can decide if you wish to have breakfast before or after the game drive. Return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. After lunch, we will go on a 2-hours boat cruise on Lake Mburo, where we have the chance to explore the wildlife-rich eastern banks of Lake Mburo. Keep an eye out for crocodiles, buffaloes and hippos as well as plenty of bird species. Return to the lodge and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
After dinner, you shall go on a night game drive for a very different and exciting game drive activity. With some luck, you have a chance to spot different species of nocturnal animals such as hyenas or even a leopard.

Day 3: Game Walk through the Park in the Morning, Leisure Time & Transfer from Lake Mburo NP to Kampala
You shall head out for a morning game walk to discover the parks beautiful nature and wildlife on foot. If we are lucky we might spot a herd of Africa’s biggest antelope: the eland, which is only found in Mburo National Park. After the game walk, we return to the lodge to freshen up and relax, before you return to Kampala. On the way to Kampala, you have once more the chance to stop at the Equator Line. Your safari guide will drop you off in Kampala.

What happens if the jeep breaks down?
Our Safari vehicles are serviced and maintained to a very high standard before, during and after every safari. The age of the vehicles in our fleet varies but most were built between 2008 and 2013. If your vehicle does break down and it cannot be fixed on the road, we will request a rescue jeep which will come for you so that you can continue your safari with minimum impact. Whilst every effort is made to prevent this from happening, the driving is rough and the vehicles do take quite a pounding!
We believe in value for money. Every guest would like to have the most reliable and comfortable vehicles on safari. In response to the clients’ needs, we have a very strict vehicle replacement policy that ensures a young fleet at all times. We have a total fleet of 225 well-maintained motor vehicles, predominantly 4-wheel drives. This does away with the problem of sub-contracting vehicles and driver-guides, which may compromise the quality of services. Our safari vehicles are specifically converted for maximum space and comfort. All of them have hatched roof and sliding windows to facilitate good viewing and convenient photography during game drives and sight seeing.
