2 Days Akagera National Park Big Five Wildlife Safari

2-Day Akagera National Park, Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah national park where game drives take place. This safari will feature game drives which offer opportunities to watch the big mammals that live here. These include zebras, hippos, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, lions among others. There is a possibility of seeing the big five animals in two days since lions and black rhinos were recently re-introduced.

Day 1: Transfer To Akagera National Park – Afternoon Boat Safari On Lake Ihema

Today, early in the morning after breakfast, your guide will come to brief you about your safari and after the briefing, he will drive you to Akagera National Park from Kigali. The drive offers stunning views and you will have some stopovers for photo moments.

Upon arrival in the park, you will go for a short guided game drive. You will then check into your lodge, have lunch and after lunch, you will go for an afternoon boat trip on Lake Ihema. You will watch lots of hippos and crocodiles, some basking on the shores of the lake. Look out for beautiful birds like fish eagles, kingfishers, cormorants among others. You will return to the lodge wait for your night game and back for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Akagera National Park- Game Drive In Akagera National Park

Today you will wake up early, have early breakfast and then head out into the park for a guided game drive. The park is home To different animals like Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes, different Antelope species, and recently the re-introduced Lions and Rhinos. The park is also a bird watchers haven with over 500 bird species.

The game drive will take about 6 hours. So you will leave the lodge with packed lunch. You will have a game drive en route to Kigali. You will arrive late in the evening

Journey Time: 2 ½ hours

Our fleet consists of 4×4 Toyota Land cruisers with a hinged roof and skylights above the front seats. The hinged roof offers two main advantages: it provides shade without restricting the view, so that you can enjoy your safari even in the very sunny hours of the day. It also allows a 360-degree all-round view.
