Mountains of the Moon Hotel and Resort has become one of Fort Portal’s signature hotels. The hotel sits on 15 acres of landscaped gardens with wonderful views of the Rwenzori Mountains. Mountains of the Moon hold a rich cultural heritage. Indigenous communities, such as the Bakonjo and Bamba people, have inhabited these lands for generations. We are located within walking distance of Fort Portal town and its numerous visitor attractions. The hotel is an ideal base for tourists wishing for a relaxing Crater Lake holiday, Kibale Forest, chimp trekking, Semliki safari Game Reserve and other Safari tours. Accommodation

The Hotel has about 33 fully appointed rooms categorized in deluxe, mountain suites, standard and superior. The standard rooms have DStv, hot showers, king sized beds and a balcony overlooking the gardens with internet access.

Deluxe rooms have double and twin bed which are well furnished compared to standard rooms. The superior rooms have more furnishings compared to deluxe rooms while the mountain suites come with a large spacious room with a sitting room which favors those travelling with friends and family.

Dinning

Eating at the Mountains of the Moon Hotel restaurant is fine dining redefined. The main restaurant and classic dining room looks out onto our lush green gardens and is over looked from the gallery lounge area.  However, an open fireplace is the focal point featuring a traditional tiled brick chimney and hearth with wood fire. The fireplace given greater presence by the addition of an impressive gilded over-mantel mirror and a handmade vase with fresh-cut flowers from the adjacent Tooro Botanical Garden.

The lighting scheme throughout the restaurant has been designed to create a dense atmospheric setting enhancing the elements of the nearby Rwenzori Mountains. Besides the open fireplace and the wooden ceiling, the homey atmosphere is enhanced by the natural hardwood floor. Relax by our swimming pool bar, watch big sports events in our main bar or enjoy the nature from the Garden Bar.  Thus each bar offers dedicated service from professionally trained bartenders.

Nature Walks and Hiking

Venture into the lush forests of Ssemliki National Park on guided nature walks, accompanied by experienced park rangers. Discover hidden waterfalls, ancient trees, and medicinal plants while learning about the park’s unique ecosystems and the importance of conservation.

Birding

Semliki Safari Lodge is a bird-lover’s paradise with over 425 species such as spot-breasted ibis, Haartlaub’s duck, Congo sepent eagle, chestnut flaned goshawk, red thighed sparrowhawk etc. The birders get an opportunity to sight the different species.

Primate walk

Meanwhile, this walk takes 3 to 4 hours and is conducted near Semliki Safari Lodge where you will meet our experienced ranger guides. Key primate species on this walk for instance chimpanzees, Red-tailed, vervet, Black and white colobus monkeys, Baboons. Angulates encountered are Waterbucks, Warthogs, Bushbucks, Buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, and Elephants.
