Busingye Gorilla Group
The Busingye gorilla group one of the gorilla families found in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park in southwestern Uganda. Separated from the Kahungye group, this was inevitable. Since it was suspected that at one time Kahungye would split as it had 3 silver backs in a bigger group.
However, The Busingye gorilla group launched for tracking in 2011 and the family has an interesting history and unique characteristics making it noteworthy.
The group’s name means “peace” which reflects the calm and harmonious nature of its group members. Busingye group led by a dominant silverback named Busingye. After whom the family is named. This Uniquity of this gorilla group is their social structure and dynamics. Unlike other gorilla families that have one dominant silverback. Busingye has got 3 silverbacks. Busingye shares leadership with another silverback called “Kakono.” this dual leadership is relatively rare among many gorilla families.
The Busingye group famously known for its size. Since it has a relatively large number of members including several adult females, juveniles and also infants. The large size provides visitors with a great opportunity. To witness a tremendous mix of interactions between the different gorillas within the family, for example, watching them feed, groom, play and interact with each other.

Before starting your trek, you will attend a briefing conducted by experienced guides at the Park Headquarters. These guides provide you with important information about the gorillas, safety precautions and also what to expect during your trekking adventure.
This experience starts as you venture into the dense and lush jungles of the Impenetrable forest. The trek vary in duration ranging from 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the Busingye family on that day. Throughout the trek, you will be accompanied by an experienced guide and trackers who are familiar with the forest. They will lead you through the terrain. Hence ensuring your safety, they will also provide you with valuable information about the gorillas and their behaviours.
Once you encounter the gorillas, you will spend a full hour in their presence, this time allows you to observe their behavior, interactions and daily activities such as feeding, playing and grooming. You will have the chance to take snaps and appreciate these incredible creatures while maintaining a safe distance.
