Perched on a Lake Mutanda peninsula in the shadow of the Virunga Mountains, the resort offers comfortable accommodation combined with the most beautiful views on planet earth. It is a perfect base for gorilla trackers, lake loungers, volcano hikers and bird lovers as well as those looking for a mystical place in nature.
Accommodation
The resort has 13 en- suite cottages which are spaciously set up and stretches into Lake Mutanda. Our cottages each come with private veranda and en-suite bathroom. We offer single, double/twin and family/triple rooms with comfortable beds and mosquito nets. Enjoy the view from our balcony as the sun rises behind the mountains and sets into the Lake.

Activities
Nature walk.
It starts with a 30-minutes boat/canoe ride, walk along the swamp and up the hills. A beautiful nature walk with amazing views over Lake Mutanda. The tour takes about 3 hours.
Mukozi Community Encounter.
After a short boat/canoe ride with a visit to Punishment Island you visit the community with locations like (depending on the day of the week) the craft maker, medicine man, the local school and/or church. Takes about 2-3 hours.
Lake Mulehe Hike.
This is a full exploration of the surroundings. You will start your tour by boat/canoe followed by a beautiful hike. Enjoy views of both Lake Mutanda and Lake Mulehe, meet local people, fishermen, a medicine man and have a local Ugandan lunch along the way. The hike is partly uphill but not extremely tough. A great hike and a perfect combination of being active and really experiencing the surrounding of Lake Mutanda.
Mutanda Island trip.
Combine a beautiful boat or canoe tour on the lake with a visit to the only habituated island. Meet the Abagesera people, visit their school and church, interact with the children and explore the island. On the way, visit Punishment Island with its heinous history.
Boat tour Lake Mutanda
Enjoy the lake, either by motorboat or canoe, with a captain and guide, and experience the silence and beauty of Lake Mutanda and its surroundings. The tour can be booked for 1 or 2 hours. Our guide will also tell you a lot about the area, some background of the communities, the birds, the otters etc.
